Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effects of hope on the relationships between perceived parenting behaviors and career attitude maturity of high school students. Questionnaires collected from 501 high school students were analyzed by means of Pearson`s correlation, hierarchical regression analysis and too-way ANOVA. The results were as follows; the distrust behavior of parents as perceived by high school students had a negative correlation with their career attitude maturity. The levels of respect, lessons and attention behavior of parents showed a significantly positive correlation with the variables of decisiveness, purpose, confidence, independence and the preparedness of high school students. On the whole, career attitude maturity and its sub-factors revealed significantly positive correlations in the perceived hope of high school students. The hierarchical regression analysis showed that their hope had a moderating effect on perceived parenting behaviors and career attitude maturity. These findings were discussed in the context of developing desirable parenting behaviors and programs of education for parents. In addition, it is believed that a program to enhance the levels of hope amongst school student`s should be developed and implemented.
